Project 365
Friends! I am happy to announce that I am embarking on my second daily art project, renamed "Project 365."
I've been thinking about this project a lot, especially during the last few months of experimenting with the color projects, and it really got my creative juices flowing. I like having a daily work of art to post and share with you each day. . . it's motivating and it pushes me to expand my boundaries, which is always good!
This "year" I will be experimenting with fresh new photography styles, adding in some travel photos, sharing shots of our newly adopted animal friends and even posting a few self-portraits.
Today, we begin with the spender of Spring in the beautiful "Garden State" of New Jersey.
Thanks and enjoy!
-Kim

Shades of Yellow
New month, new color project! I'm going to expand my range a bit for April. Rather than just one color, I'll be working with a color family. This month - shades of yellow ~ from pale cream to vibrant yellow-orange.
Happy Spring!

I'm ready for spring. March's color of the month is GREEN.
The title of today's post says it all. About this time each year, I get very tired of the grey and brown of winter. Most of the snow is melted and I'm ready for some green. So while I'm waiting for spring, I can create my own. Here's the first installment of the March color of the month: green.

Poppy Red, No. 3
Working on a color project helps me to push my boundaries. Because I've restricted my artwork to focusing on one color, I'm forced to find subjects that I might otherwise have ignored. For example, sitting and waiting at the train crossing, I had an "a-ha moment" and grabbed my camera to snap the 3rd installment of February's Poppy Red.

Maybe it's no surprise that February's color is red...
Hello friends ~
January's "Grey Color Project" was fun. You see, grey can be so misunderstood. Some may find it dull, colorless or even depressing (especially during the long winter months.) But I disagree. I think it grey can be very soothing, soft and quite beautiful. And grey is not just the the absence of color (though I guess "true grey" must be.) In the January color project, I found many different shades of grey, from warm, brown-toned greys to cool, bluish greys. What do you think about grey? Feel free to comment, I'd love to hear from you!
But now it's February and it's time for a change. I'm choosing a color from the Pantone Fashion Color Report, Spring 2013. ~ Pantone Poppy Red 17-1664
You will find this color somewhere in each of the February Color Project photos I post this month, starting with this lovely single red-orange rose.
Thanks and have a beautiful day.

My favorite
If you have been following along this week, you know I've been photographing feathers I've found over the past year. It's been a lot of fun focusing on the texture, color and composition of these beauties. I love them all, but I do have a favorite....

Grey, No. 5 - Found Feathers
I've started a "found feathers" collection. It's a small collection, but I expect it will grow! The largest feather was found on a nature walk in Pennsylvania. The second largest, in New Hampshire and the smaller two in my backyard in New Jersey.

January Grey Project: Photo #2
Below is photo #2 of the January "Grey" project. I love how this color project pushes me to look at objects that I might not have considered before. For example, the shopping cart wheels at our local grocery store made for a great subject matter - the pattern of repeating shapes, the simplicity of the color...it all works together to create an intriguing image.

Happy New Year - gray or grey, however you spell it...
Gray is my new project.
For 2013, I've decided to do "a color a month" project (note: a new and better name for this is coming soon.) Look for 10-15 new photos featuring gray this month....
Stay tuned and Happy New Year!
